Ensure that the anti-drop hook mechanism (if present) is in good condition and can return to its original position properly. - **Chain:** Inspect the chain for any signs of elongation, kinking, bending, burrs, or cracks. Make sure that every link of the chain is intact. - **Mechanism:** Operate the handle repeatedly under no-load conditions to check whether the transmission is smooth, and whether there are any signs of jamming or abnormal noises. Also, verify the reliability of the engagement between the ratchet and the pawl, as well as the effectiveness of the self-locking function.
