What is a winch? A winch, commonly referred to as a Winch or Hoist in English, is a mechanical device that uses a drum to wind steel wires or chains in order to lift, pull, or drag heavy objects. It is one of the fundamental and most essential components of lifting equipment. The core working principle of a winch is as follows: The power source (human power, electric motor, internal combustion engine) converts high-speed, low-torque energy into low-speed, high-torque output through a reducer (gearbox), thereby driving the drum to rotate and wind or unwind the steel wire or chain, completing the task of lifting the heavy object.
