Hand chain hoists are categorized by their transmission principles, working mechanisms, characteristics, and applicable scenarios. The gear-driven type operates with a handle that drives multiple gears (spur gears/planetary gears) to reduce speed and increase torque, making the operation more labor-saving and providing faster lifting speeds. They have a lightweight design, compact structure, and rely on ratchet assist for self-locking. These are suitable for general use in construction sites, factories, and maintenance. The worm gear drive type is driven by a handwheel that turns a worm → worm wheel → sprocket. It naturally locks when stationary (automatically stops), offers a large transmission ratio for precise fine-tuning, but has lower efficiency and requires more effort to operate. Additionally, it tends to be relatively larger in size. For high safety requirements such as positioning and fall prevention, these types of hoists are commonly used.
