Lifting chains are produced according to the EN818-2 standard. Manganese steel is the basic material for manufacturing 80-grade lifting chains. The abbreviation 'manganese steel' stands for either 20Mn2A or 25MnV, which are the most fundamental materials. Generally, 20Mn2 is used as the base material for chains below 16mm in diameter, while 25MnV is used for those above 16mm. There are many types of surface treatments for lifting chains, such as natural color, blackening, galvanizing, electrophoresis, etc. However, all these treatments require a preliminary polishing process before they can be applied. The polished treatment is not done on finished chain stock; it is performed prior to the surface treatment process.
